Subject: Search For A New South Side Settlement Director
Mari Sunami has informed the Board of South Side Settlement House that she will be retiring effective February 1, 2009. Mari has served the agency as Director for the last 16 years. Through her dedicated leadership the agency has been on the cutting edge of programming for children. Her tenure has been marked by expanded involvement in the cultural life of the community through the Freedom and Arts award, the Poetry Festival, and the collection of talent at the annual Bread and Roses concerts. She has worked tirelessly to identify and address the needs of the South Side Community. She has been a leader in the development of a collaborative partnership with other Settlement Houses in Columbus. Her passion, idealism and common sense will be missed.
The Board wants you to know of the actions and procedures that will take place during the selection of our next Director. A Search Committee has been formed consisting of members of the Board of Directors, Staff, Agency Alumni, Community Leaders, and Program Participants. The selection of an Executive Director is a three-step process: searching, screening, and selecting. The Search Committee will conduct the searching and screening. The Board of Directors will do the selecting from a list of applicants submitted by the Committee. A nationwide search will be conducted.

- Advertise the position beginning June 1, 2008.
- Receive Applications and Select Finalists by September 1, 2008.
- Conclude Interviews with Finalists by November 15, 2008.
- Select a Finalist by December 1, 2008.
- Bring new Director on Board by February 1, 2009.
